A note before we start. X2O is a general-wellness hydration product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. It is not a medical device. This is not medical advice.
The LifeWave X2O runs water through three stages every cycle: filtration, hydrogen enrichment and light infusion. Each has a different purpose and a very different evidence base. Here’s the plain-English version.
Key takeaways
- Stage 1, filtration: established technology; formal certification is ongoing.
- Stage 2, hydrogen: early research; LifeWave says more studies are needed.
- Stage 3, light infusion: patented and unique, with no independent evidence.
- None of it replaces drinking enough clean water.
Stage one: filtration
The primary filter is designed to reduce a broad range of tap-water impurities, and a secondary stage adds further polishing. LifeWave says the primary filter is undergoing accredited lab testing, state registrations and NSF certification in the product configuration, so it doesn’t yet make formal contaminant-removal claims. See is tap water safe?
Stage two: hydrogen enrichment
Dissolved molecular hydrogen (H2) is being studied as an antioxidant, including for exercise capacity and oxidative stress. LifeWave’s own position is that early research looks promising but more studies are needed. That’s accurate. See hydrogen water explained.
Stage three: light infusion
LifeWave’s patented process applies light to the water; the company describes the result as water that carries light into the body. It shares a design philosophy with LifeWave’s phototherapy patches. There’s no independent, peer-reviewed evidence that it changes water or has a health effect, so treat it as experimental. See what is light-infused water?
Day-to-day use
Fill the reservoir with an approved water type (tap, spring, filtered, distilled or deuterium-depleted), start a cycle and dispense. The stages run automatically. See X2O setup.
How it compares with what you drink now
From plain tap water, X2O changes purity, hydrogen content and adds the light step. If you already filter, the extras are hydrogen and light. If you already drink hydrogen water, the only new thing is the unproven light step. That’s the clearest way to judge whether it’s worth the price for you.
