Wednesday, February 4th — Consistency, Recovery & Simplifying the Process

by

Today is Wednesday, February 4th, and this feels like a good moment to pause, reflect, and slightly simplify how I document this challenge.

Last night was one of those nights that reminds you life doesn’t pause just because you’re running an experiment. Our little girl Besa wasn’t feeling well again, so sleep was a bit broken and the morning routine was… let’s call it flexible.

That said, I still got what mattered done.

Morning: Recovery First

Even with the interrupted sleep, I made it to the gym this morning — but today was not a training day.

Instead, I focused purely on recovery:

  • Steam room
  • Sauna
  • Ice bath

No weights. No pushing. Just letting the nervous system downshift and supporting recovery.

Today was intentionally a rest day, and I treated it as such.

Nutrition: Steady and On-Plan

Food-wise, everything stayed solid and controlled:

  • Around 2,400 calories
  • Protein target hit
  • Carbs on point for a rest day
  • Clean food, no junk, no chaos

Same supplements as usual:

  • Perfect Amino on an empty stomach
  • Electrolytes with creatine, NMN, beta-alanine
  • Vitamin D
  • Omega-3s

Nothing fancy.
Nothing new.

And honestly — that’s kind of the point.

Work, Life & Mental Sharpness

Today was busy in a different way.

I had three back-to-back coaching sessions, while also helping around the house and juggling normal family life with the kids off school.

Despite the broken sleep, I felt:

  • Sharp
  • Clear-headed
  • Focused

That’s a good signal.

It tells me that even as variables shift (sleep, schedule, stress), the foundation is strong enough to hold.

A Small Shift in How I’ll Document This Challenge

Here’s the honest truth:

Day-to-day updates can get repetitive — not because nothing is happening, but because consistency looks boring on paper.

I take the same supplements.
I eat well.
I train or rest intentionally.
I hydrate.
I show up.

That repetition is where results come from — but it doesn’t need to be documented every single day.

So for this phase of the challenge — getting to 180 pounds using a modified keto / hybrid approach — I’m going to simplify how I share updates.

Going forward:

  • Weekly updates every Monday
  • That’s when I weigh in
  • That’s when I check metrics
  • That’s when the data actually tells a story

Those are the days where we can clearly see:

  • What’s working
  • What needs adjusting
  • And whether the strategy is moving me closer to 180

The rest of the week?
That’s execution.

Final Thought for Today

There’s a temptation to over-document everything.

But progress doesn’t come from novelty.
It comes from doing the same simple things, consistently, even when life is noisy.

So the work continues.
The structure stays.
The goal hasn’t changed.

I’ll check back in properly on Monday — with numbers, metrics, and real feedback from the body.

Until then, it’s just about showing up and doing the work.
