There’s something we don’t talk about enough.
Not protein.
Not cold plunges.
Not biohacking stacks.
Not patches.
Not macros.
Not steps.
We don’t talk about intellectual ego.
And it might be the most expensive thing in your life.
The Silent Killer of Progress
The person who says:
- “Yeah, I know that.”
- “I’ve heard that before.”
- “That doesn’t work.”
- “Tried it.”
That person is finished.
Not because they’re wrong.
Because they’re closed.
The moment you stop being teachable…
You stop evolving.
And aging isn’t just biological.
It’s mental rigidity.
I’m Nearly 50… And I’m Still a Student
Here’s something I’ve noticed about the healthiest, wealthiest, highest performers I’ve met:
They’re beginners.
Even when they’re elite.
I’ve worn my WHOOP for years.
I log my macros.
I lift full body every second day.
I bounce 1,000 times on a trampoline.
I sauna. I plunge. I walk. I patch. I supplement.
But I still ask:
- What if I’m wrong?
- What if there’s a better way?
- What am I missing?
That mindset alone keeps you young.
“I Know” Is a Defense Mechanism
Let’s get honest.
When someone says “I know,” what they usually mean is:
- I don’t want to feel behind.
- I don’t want to look inexperienced.
- I don’t want to admit I’ve been inconsistent.
It’s ego protecting identity.
But growth requires identity death.
The old version of you has to die regularly.
That’s uncomfortable.
So most people avoid it.
Why This Matters for Health
You’d be shocked how many people:
- “Know” they should lift weights… but don’t.
- “Know” protein matters… but under-eat it.
- “Know” sleep is important… but scroll until 1am.
- “Know” consistency beats motivation… but wait for motivation.
Knowledge without execution is entertainment.
And entertainment doesn’t build muscle.
Or business.
Or resilience.
Or youthfulness.
The Real Biohack No One Talks About
Curiosity.
Radical curiosity.
About:
- Your recovery.
- Your habits.
- Your triggers.
- Your weaknesses.
- Your blind spots.
The second you think you’ve figured it all out…
You’ve aged.
Not chronologically.
But neurologically.
The Operator Standard
If you want to stay dangerous as you age:
- Assume there’s always a higher level.
- Assume someone knows something you don’t.
- Assume you’re 10% off somewhere.
- Act like a white belt.
White belts grow.
Black belts who stop learning decay.
Here’s the Hard Question
Where in your life are you saying:
“I already know that.”
Be honest.
Because that’s probably the exact area that needs work.
Staying younger isn’t about tricks.
It’s about remaining adaptable.
Open.
Hungry.
Curious.
The body follows the mind.
And the mind must remain elastic.
Otherwise…
You don’t age because of time.
You age because you decided you’re done learning.
